Product Description

Book Description

This book offers an introduction to 3D computer modeling and Pro/ENGINEER. The book's intent is to help users become comfortable working in 3D. Although there are numerous step-by-step examples to illustrate modeling concepts and techniques, this is not a push-button manual.

The book begins with 3D modeling basics including 3D modeling methods and model definitions, coordinate systems, and view types and specifications. It then proceeds with the creation of 3D components, the documentation of those components for production, and the combining of components into assemblies. End-of-chapter exercises vary in difficulty from easy to challenging. The exercises provide a chance to review basic concepts as well as increase understanding and modeling skills by applying those concepts and techniques to the creation of some realistic models.

3.0 out of 5 stars Too much text & not enough practice. We're not stupid., 4 Sep 2001
By A Customer
Ok. A lot of info. But what a dull introduction - I wanted a book to teach me Pro/E not give me the history of parametric modelling. Aside from that, I wasn't too impressed with the 'Need to download models from internet' rather than developing & building models throughout the book. Also, I found it a bit too tedious - he doesn't seem to realise that anyone using/attempting to use pro/e is probally a qualified engineer & doesn't want or need long explanations on how to select something with a mouse. One final point, although all the info is probally there, I found it hard work & doing things like having pre-setup tempates & models to download doesn't help learn how to use the software.
