This is an odd book...... good in places but seems determined to do things the hard way. Many of the short cuts that Poser users find out for themselves are missing and clarity is lacking.

For example, one of the coomon problems faced by newcomers to Poser is how to load more than one character into a scene. Basic, but essential, yet it's hard to find reference to it in the book.

The overall feel is of both a rushed job and an idealised one. It now also suffers from having been released before the Service packs, which make a huge difference to Poser 5's effectiveness.

As a complete novice I found the on line manual time consuming to print and read. I bought this book expecting to get up and running more quickly. unfortunately this book is not the one to help. The more basic parts are pretty much the same as the manual.Useful Information is scant and the examples only show one way of doing things with the underlying principles that would allow the information to be used in other situations not given. The projects are written by several contributing authors. Too many of them require the ownership of other (expensive) pieces of software and the examples provided are dull and uninspiring. I have bought this authors work before and found it sadly lacking. This book is no exception - save your money it's not worth it
