Product Description
Synopsis
Expatriates Doug and Cindi Bower have successfully expatriated to Mexico, learning through trial and error how to do it from the conception of the initial idea to driving up to their new home in another country. Now the potential expatriate can benefit from their more than three years of pre-expat research to their more than two years of actually living in Mexico. They explain: How to begin the process of deciding whether Mexico is for you. How to evaluate locations and costs for expatriation. How to avoid being stereotyped as an Ugly American. How to find and set up your new home. Ways to cure culture shock before arriving in Mexico. How to master Spanish before moving. How safe Mexico really is. The benefits of cheap living, travel, and medical care. The modern technology available in Mexico. and much more! "The Plain Truth about Living in Mexico" answers the potential expatriate's questions by leading them through the process from the beginning to the end. In this comprehensive guide, you will learn not only how-to expatriate but will learn what to expect, in daily life, before coming to Mexico.

From the Publisher
EDITORIAL REVIEW: The Plain Truth About Living in Mexico

This is a fantastically comprehensive resource for anyone considering taking an extended holiday in Mexico or indeed relocating lock, stock and barrel and expatriating to live in Mexico. 'The Plain Truth about Living in Mexico' covers every single conceivable question a traveller, expatriate or retiree could possibly have about Mexico, Mexicans and what it's really like establishing a brand new life in this fascinating middle American country. The subtitle for 'The Plain Truth about Living in Mexico' is 'The Expatriate's Guide to Moving, Retiring, or Just Hanging Out' which gives the reader the immediate impression that this is both an easy to read title but also one which covers every element of Mexico - and that is exactly what this book does! Written by American expatriates Cindi and Doug Bower, 'The Plain Truth about Living in Mexico' charts their five year journey from the inception of the idea of moving to live in Mexico right through to them making their dream a reality and establishing and settling into a brand new life abroad. If a book dissappoints or doesn't deliver what it promises I would usually just move on.. but this book is so bad that it deserves a warning sign on Amazon for unsuspecting buyers! The book offers NO useful info for anyone moving to Mexico. It is the amaturely written, highly personal views of the author with repetitive ramblings about his own political and social views, his negative generalisations about other Americans and biased opinions on where to live (apparently the town that he lives in is the best choice for everyone and Mexico City is the root of all evil) and all decorated with so many exclamation marks than you can almost hear him shouting while you read! I can't believe someone actually published this book. On a positive note I just started Ken Luboff's - Living abroad in Mexico which is jam packed with useful info and extremely well written.
