Direct marketing is one of the oldest, most successful and most straightforward forms of selling. Writing a book about it is challenging, since the authors must address these standard traits without belaboring the obvious and must find something fresh to add. Husband and wife authors, Mary and Wayne Christensen, meet that challenge, at least for readers who are beginners in direct marketing. Their book capably addresses the basics of building a direct marketing organization. However, they delve into excruciatingly basic detail about where to recruit sales associates, how to hold a party, what to wear and whether invited guests should be asked to pay an admission charge. While their new statistics on the popularity of direct marketing are interesting and their chapters on basic sales skills are effective, the book focuses on elementary skills. We recommend it as an effective nuts and bolts reference about network marketing. Going to the next level, where that first million may be waiting, is up to you.

Lots of traditional tips plus a few new ones. Engaging style. Common sense and practical ideas abound. A very good volume for those new to the industry.
