Produce a bounty of herbs and vegetables in a small spaceI have to admit, that my early gardening efforts were pretty much flops. What a disappointment. I had degrees in botany and forestry, but I also had a brown thumb. The turnaround came when I discovered intensive gardening (the art of growing vegetables across the bed instead of in conventional rows-–in super-productive soil. Now, Karen and I have completely revised the Postage Stamp Garden Book (which originally sold 500,000 copies) to demonstrate how anyone can produce tremendous amounts of vegetables in small spaces (using containers as well as in-ground gardens). The intensive, ecologically friendly techniques we use require much less weeding, watering and overall effort. If you are busy like we are, chances are you are space short and time stressed. You want to garden but you don’t have to lot of time to spend gardening –then the intensive methods described in this book will be perfect for you.
