I'm brand new to playing ice hockey, admittedly never having really watched it either! I thought I'd better research up but this book didn't really help much.

It has 10 chapters, only 3 of which were of any use.
1 - Origins of the game
2 - Stars of Today (this is a huge chapter and now dated)
3 - Getting started - basic and even lacks a diagram of a hockey rink!
4 - Ready to Play - this was useful to a complete newbie
5 - Hockey strategies - again useful to a complete newbie
6 - Nutrition and health
7 - Physical fitness
8 - Safety & First Aid
9 - Guidelines (for parents, fans, players and volunteers)
10 - Glossary (<30 definitions)

Not too sure where chapters 6-9 fit in with an Olympic guide to a specific sport - they're very generic and if you were interested in these particular areas there are many more specialist publications available.

Summary - an OK book for a complete newbie, but if you already know anything about ice hockey, I wouldn't bother.
