5.0 out of 5 stars An absolute must for any parent!, 5 Mar 2003
By C. Shaaban (Basingstoke, England) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
This book is a God-send for any (especially first time) parent. I bought the book when my daughter was 12 weeks old and -according to the book- was undergoing "leap no. 4". I could not believe how accurate the authors described what was going on in my babies life - it was like reading a diary about her. Suddenly all the changes in her behaviour and all the apparently needless crying were explained.
Every chaper takes you through one phase step-by-step. From how you can tell the approaching leap to what your child is learning and how to help its development. The book has a clear structure and nothing is explained too scientificly.
Most importantly it helps to understand the needs of your baby and allows mother and child to go through life with less stress and frustration.

5.0 out of 5 stars A bible for us first-time parents, 20 Jan 2004
By A Customer
This book is great on two levels. First of all it explains what is going on when your placid baby suddenly goes fussy (it also gives you tell-tale signs to watch for), and what you can do to comfort your child in each phase. Incidentally, this tends to make parents' lives easier, too. On another level it gives you an understanding of where your baby is in his or her development, and what is going on inside them.

5.0 out of 5 stars If you only buy one baby book..., 1 May 2006
By E. Jarvis (London) - See all my reviews

buy this one. Every parent should have one - I have recommended/sent it to every person I know with a baby and everyone raves about it. At five weeks old my baby seemed to completely change overnight. Luckily my baby massage teacher lent me this book and it is genuinely the only book I have referred to throughout her (10) months to date. Every time she 'flips out' you consult the 'oracle' and sure enough, its a standard fussy phase and her behaviour can be explained as down to new 'connections' being made, new experiences learned.
