1.0 out of 5 stars Disappointing, 10 Jan 2006
By Cyberwitch (Cranbrook, Kent) - See all my reviews
Having been thinking about "going raw" for a while now this book which contains 350 recipes from the "world's top raw chefs" seemed like a brilliant buy. I couldn't wait to get my hands on it, but the recipes are unrealistic - it's an American book that isn't geared for UK supermarkets. Plus the list of basic tools required is equally as unrealistic - unless you're Nigella Lawson you just don't need a blender, AND electric AND hand beaters, AND a food processor, funnels (various sizes), potato masher, cake decorating kit...need I go on? Of course if you love cooking then you'll have all these things in your cupboards anyway - I don't. I saw "going raw" as a way to avoid the hated cooking, though didn't want to be living on fruit and salad for the rest of my life, and I'm sure it needn't be this fiddly...? Plus how about "Going raw for one"? I don't need 8 portions!

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent recipes - great book!, 30 Jun 2007

If you want to recipes that may take a little time and preparation but are well worth the effort then this book comes highly recommended. It contains a wealth of recipes; the thai curry soup was gorgeous and one of my favourites. I recommend this book to anyone wanting to create special raw food dishes.
