AutoCAD software is a customizable 2D and 3D design and drafting environment and toolset. Architects, engineers, drafters, product designers, and design-related professionals use it to create, view, manage, plot and output, share, and reuse accurate, information-rich drawings. Two programming languages are commonly used for this purpose, AutoLISP and VBA. This tutorial offers a full complement of AutoLISP programming skills, from the basic concepts to advanced programming techniques, that will enable readers to customize the AutoCAD application to include productivity-enhancements suited to their team needs. Beginning with an introduction to the language, the programming environment, and the Visual LISP editor, succeeding chapters address data manipulation, user input and output options, programming dialog boxes, modifying AutoCAD drawing database objects and advanced features of the Visual LISP programming tool kit. Demonstration projects are included at the end of each chapter as a means of reinforcing the lesson and providing core applications that the reader can use in their own design environment.
