3.0 out of 5 stars Interesting, but not as interesting as it could have been, 6 Jan 2000
By A Customer
Ted Dibiase's book is certainly worth reading if you are a fan of the WWF or wrestling in general. It provides a useful insight into the way in which the pro-wrestling scene has changed since the emergence of the "big two", and younger fans may be very interested to learn that it wasn't always pyrotechnics and rock videos.

I didn't mind the constant references to Ted's faith - they after all make him the man he is - but I was frustrated by his reluctance to really scratch much below the surface and really show the business warts and all. I constantly felt Dibiase was holding something back, and I found myself constantly wishing for more detail or a less "political" commentary. The "revelations" about the wrestling industry which are revealed will come as no surprise to real fans.

In comparison to the likes of Mick Foley's excellent "Have a Nice Day", this reads more like the sort of profile you read in a WWF magazine. Its a good book, but you just know it could have been so much better.

If you want the definitive wrestling book, buy Mick Foley's.

2.0 out of 5 stars What a dissapointment, 31 Mar 2000
By A Customer
Maybe it should be brought to anyones attention that the book comes under the category of "Christian Living", and not "Professional Wrestling". Unfortunately, the book is based on Dibiase's life, which can be very dull at times, and there is an extreme lack of professional wrestling mentioned. In its place Dibiase preaches his faith, and before you know it, you are skipping out paragrahs filled with scriptures and whatnot. This also makes the book a shorter read. However, Dibiase has an effective writing technique and does include interesting moments such as when he first joins the WWF. Unfortunately though, as a whole, the book gives as much an insight into the world of professional wrestling as an item in a WWF or WCW magazine. The price of the book is reasonable, but buy Foley's book for a much better insight.
