3.0 out of 5 stars Don't use this book as your only guide., 20 Feb 2000
By A Customer
I sit this exam in the morning as I write this review, The book has been a good source of pulling things together, crossing the T's and dotting the I's! But, And I stress But, there are some errors in the questions, and thankfully other books have assisted me in these areas.

One such question, regards reducing log on traffic on the network, one of the answers given to reducing this, Is get the users to log on at a different time? the fact that the office in question is in a different time zone, would have resolved this matter anyway, and how many companies do you know offer there employees the option to start at 10am, 11am or Noon, quite the answer as it is offered, but still a bit daft to offer it as a pratical answer to reducing network logon traffic.

Sybex's books have been a great assistance to my studies, as have the cram session down loaded from the net for free. the good point about this book is the question sets and walk through answers. these are as good as any transender if you know your stuff, and you will question the ones that are wrong, if you know the enterprise enviroment and the way it works.

My main points of view on any exam is if you know the subject you will pass the exam. Reading books will help you gain the knowledge, but doing is everything. Having 2 PC's, the software, and the sybex books, has been my way of studying for server, which I have Passed, and now I have worked my way to Enterprise. A exam Cram with a few dodge questions and a lot of good one, is not going to lead you to the goal of MCP or MCSE.

3.0 out of 5 stars A good exam overview, with some flaws., 26 Jan 2000
By A Customer
I generally suggest to people that if they wish to take an MCP exam, they learn the material, play with the product, and then purchase an Exam Cram to determine exactly what is on the test.

Unfortunately, this has never held more true than for this exam. There are some fairly serious technical flaws in parts of this book, especially in the small section on TCP/IP. It is still a valuable book in reviewing what will be on the exam, but make sure you have other resources to learn the material from.

4.0 out of 5 stars Excellent review with a few glitches, 4 Aug 1999
By A Customer
This book was a great review of material I had covered in several MCSE study guides. Particularly nice was the focus on what the test will actully cover, how to answer the questions and the nasty little tricks that MS throws into the mix. The value of the book was also increased by the three practice tests available from the web site. There were a few blatantly wrong answers to review and test questions that definitely need to be corrected though.
