3.0 out of 5 stars Useful for quick reminders, but not for 're-learning', 28 Nov 1999
By A Customer
I bought this book after some indecision, having been swayed mainly by the positive reviews. I have to say I was not overly impressed with the depth of detail. A "Language Reference" substitute it is definitely not. For the kind of detail I frequently need (recent example: the mechanics of type conversion of 'Date' type variables) I am left searching through MSDN files, which have neat little procedurelets which are far more useful than the syntax summary box which is automatically provided as a prompt by the vb6 editor. People with leaky memories like mine should keep their MSDN files handy, as this book falls short of being a full reference.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Read and a Brilliant Intrduction into Core Vb, 19 Oct 1999
By A Customer
This book is easy to read and follow. The introduction and following chapters are well versed with a mixture of authors' notes, table and scripting which helps you follow as he (the author) changes and adds to code.

Each Chapter has an Immediate Solutions part to allow you to intergrat what you've read i nthe chapter into you own scripts.

5.0 out of 5 stars Good coverage of most important and most useful parts of VB6, 15 Jun 1999
By A Customer
While the answer to life, the universe and VB6 would have been many times the size of this book, the author did an excellent job of presenting the fundamentals of VB6 in a way that was very easy to use as a reference. He managed to hit nearly every point I really needed, and gave complete, if somewhat sketchy, examples. No wasted verbiage, no gratuitous editorializing; just solidly-written reference material.
