4.0 out of 5 stars 97% of what you need, 27 Dec 2000
By A Customer
I used the book as the core of my revision for this exam in conjunction with the O'Reilly book on Transact-SQL.

The exam is one of those that are very heavily based upon specific syntax rather than overall concepts. In other words the exam felt like it was aimed at developers rather than Systems Engineers. This is good and bad from the point of view of the book's value: on a negative note, anything short of an in-depth and repeated reading of the book is NOT sufficient to pass the exam, even if you are a hardened I.T. exam taker, as there is a great deal of (concise but dull) information that you must absorb: BUT from a positive perspective the book will make a handy reference after you've done the exam rather than being another Cram book that is consigned forever to the desk drawer.

When I took the exam I did not encounter any topics that were absent from the book, which, having passed 22 professional exams, I feel qualified to say is unusual for a revision book of this nature.

By way of endorsement, I passed this exam first time, but I would say if you are using the book as your only revision tool (I have used Exam Cram books successfully in this way in the past with some exams) make sure you have a thorough and true understanding of everything in the book including all the pages of convoluted SQL syntax in the appendix - some exam questions have answers just as convoluted and dry.

4.0 out of 5 stars Comprehensive book for the exam, 9 Feb 2001
Passed this tough exam with 775 using this book, New Riders, Transcender demo & MS Whitepapers. There is a lot of detail in this book which you have to learn well to pass the questions on syntax that pop up in the exam. Code fragments were very useful & helped a lot. Qu's were simpler than what bit you in the test. Very boring reading however.

4.0 out of 5 stars Well worth the price, 27 Aug 1999
By A Customer
Unlike some of the exam cram series, this one could be both an exam readiness book as well as one to keep on the shelf for future reference. By itself it probably isn't enough to pass the exam but is well worth the $$ spent in preparing for the exam.
