This book is an excellent book, both as a reference and as a learning aid.

The book's content is excellent, discussing everything in enough detail, and is very well presented with clear photographs to illustrate everything from hand jams to tying mule munter hitches.

The only thing that needs pointing out is that this book is an advanced text; it discusses things like anchors and self-rescue techniques which would baffle a beginner, as well as not discussing some of the basics as thoroughly as a beginner would want. Thankfully, there's a partner book, "How to rock climb" which is pretty good too.
