My opinion is that this book falls between being a scientific work and a reference book for keepers. Virtually every species of venomous snake is covered, but unfortunately only briefly. For a book about keeping venomous snakes in captivity, it devoted little space to the actual husbandry requirements and idiosyncracies of each species, in fact, only four paragraphs deal with the housing requirements of venomous snakes per se. As for individual animals.....For example....Bitis peringueyi, only two paragrahs out of a total of 14 regarding this species refer to the keeping of this species in captivity.
A good general reference book on venomous snakes, but may fall short of expectations for anyone looking for the definitive tome on husbandry in captivity
