4.0 out of 5 stars Good for quasi-technical readers, 3 Sep 1999
By A Customer
I have a software development background and am now in a project management role. I really thought this book provided a good feel what what XML is and does. It also helped frame XML vs HTML. I liked it. Not super technical, but very readable and informative.

2.0 out of 5 stars Better than most but still not very good, 9 Jun 1999
By A Customer
Unfortunately, many of todays xml books have been 'rushed to the presses' and are of very poor quality. This book is better than most I've read/seen but I was still disappointed. I forced myself through the first five chapters and finally quit around chapter 7. The opening chapters seem to fluctuate between a managerial overview and a detailed how-to book, accomplishing neither. I also felt that there was a severe lack of real-world examples / applications. I was glad that I checked it out from the library instead of buying it.

4.0 out of 5 stars This is the first book to read on XML, 1 Sep 1998
By A Customer
This was my first book on XML. It is great for anyone using HTML as it explains: the differences between HTML and XML, the reasons for using XML, its history from SGML and also where XML seems to be heading.

Finally it contains coded examples that can be used with a XML parser.

If you do not understand namespaces, DTD (just changed) and what a parser is then buy this and get reading !!!!

3.0 out of 5 stars Good but dated book.
This book is very good if you have no clue what XML is, however it has now become dated with many of the developments in XML standardization. Read more
