2.0 out of 5 stars Unfortunately not the best QL book, 17 April 2001
By A Customer
Of all the Quantum Leap novels published, this has to be the one which took me the longest time to get through. This isn't because it's a long book, but because the story centred around the fantastic premise of Sam and Al both on the same Leap is monumentally dull.

The way that Al is accidentally sent back in time to the same period Sam is in isn't exactly inspired - merely a 'freak' lightening bolt. It's not until toward the conclusion of the book that they meet either. Although the scene is handled touchingly, I feel the novel would have benefited from having the two meet earlier on and complete the Leap together. As it stands, you read the book in the hope they'll meet and have to trawl through the story to get to it.

Worth buying only if you're a dyed in the wool QL fan. Luckily, the author didn't write another in the series.

4.0 out of 5 stars A good story from the Quantum Leap world!, 16 Dec 2003
By Tori "foxxie52" (Herne Bay, Kent) - See all my reviews
Judging by the opinions here, you either loved this book or loathed it. I am in the "loved it" club. Search and rescue is a good story from the Quantum Leap world. The plot line centres around both Sam and Al instead of just Sam.

Thanks to a huge electrical storm, Al is leaped into the character of Gordon Huckstep, a survivor of a plane crash that leaves him and a small group of others stranded in the Canadian wilderness. It's up to Al to keep the group together. Meanwhile, Sam has leaped into Doctor Phillip Payne who is currently out searching for the downed plane. Will the two best friends find each other across the vast distance? Oh, come on! Like I'm actually gonna tell you?!?!

5.0 out of 5 stars quality quantum leapage, 12 Jan 2002
Personally I think this is the best book in the QL range, I think the ending is a beatiful nod to the show, and having sam and al apart for most of the book is a good thing in my opinion, because it illustrates the unique bond they have between them. showing how they would both move heaven and earth to help each other out. A must for the casual quantum leaper and the die hard fan.
