From the Author

A masterpiece from a master story teller!
A must read for any hockey fan. The stories are written in a unique and humorous way. Freeberg keeps you laughing throughout the entire book. This book is a behind the scenes look at "The Coolest Game on Earth". His love of the game and the respect he has for the players and the National Hockey League shines through on every page. The book IS GOOD FOR HOCKEY, it humanizes a sport that at times can be brutal. His stories are so vividly written, they jump right off the page. "In The Bin" is an entertaining-laugh-out-book!! This is a perfect gift for any sports fan.

5.0 out of 5 stars Most entertaining hockey book EVER!!, 4 Aug 1999
By A Customer
I bought this book after reading it's reviews, and I am extremely glad I did. It's not only full of insights into the game, it's players, and officials, but is one of the funniest collection of stories I have read in a long time. And that includes supposed "humor" books, too. I was a big hockey fan before reading the book, but I am an even bigger one now. The only downside is having read this book in the summer it's made it even more difficult to wait for the season to begin. I'd give it 6 stars if I could.

2.0 out of 5 stars Very disappointing..., 12 Jul 1999
By A Customer
Almost unbelievably, Mr. Freeberg doesn't seem to have a lot to say. I am the worlds biggest hockey fan, and even I don't care about two-thirds of the stories in the book. I don't care about the size of the goal judges box, I don't care about Wild Wing (the Ducks mascot) being stuck. I want to hear good juicy stories from an NHL insider....and there are precious few in this book. And Freebergs posture of cowering in the corner everytime his penalty box door opened got real old, real fast. I have yet to hear of an off ice official being assulted by an NHL'er, so the visual was just plain silly the first time...as well as the tenth. There is enough in this book for a good artical in the Hockey News, nothing more.

5.0 out of 5 stars It's so good, I plan on reading it again!, 25 May 1999
By A Customer
This was the most enjoyable book I've read in a long time, and that includes non-hockey books, too. The stories were not only entertaining, but educational about the sport of hockey and its players. It was also great to read about players whose names I knew, but knew little about them since they aren't the "stars". I think the best part of the book was the story about the referees...I have a whole new respect for the job they do on the ice. I had so much fun reading this book, I'm planning on reading it again in September to get ready for the start of the season! Please let me know if the author has written any other books.
