This book is described as an aid to developing pratical solutions to common development challenges. In my opinion the book is informative and has good information on the subjects covered. This book is NOT designed to be a beginners guide, it is a quick reference to problem solving.

The examples are of average quality and with a little thought and constructive design they can be used to aid devlopment. The range of topics is quite broad and enough information is given to make a start. They will not obviously be the perfect solution to every situation as each one is different.

Those with a good grasp of the language will, in my opinion use this to speed development and use it as a reference to aid building solutions.

I feel that those who have given this a low mark, have purchased the wrong book. If you want a beginners guide, there are plenty available. If you want a language reference there are also plenty available, but if you want examples to common questions this is probably the best around.

This book is just too cute for words "Dear John - How do I ..." I was looking for something that explains vb6 - Not one word about the Data Environment or report writer. Too little book (at 790 pages yet!) for too much money.

I would agree with some of the other reviews, ie., that a lot of what is in this book one could get off of the internet, and that the coverage of VB6 is pretty weak (if you compare this version with the previous version, there is not much difference), however it's a good source for advanced VB Topics and makes for some very good bathroom reading.
