5.0 out of 5 stars concise, practical and worth every penny., 14 Dec 2001
By A Customer
Having gradually deteriorated over a period of time and following a major trauma I found that I was in a permanent state of anxiety and suffering from frequent panic attacks. This book was recommended to me by a therapist from the Priory Hospital Group which have an excellent reputation in dealing with patients with psychiatric problems.I found that the book was concise, well thought out and provided the reader with, not only advice but a practical framework, based on logic, for identifying and addressing the problems caused by various anxiety disorders.Working through it has made me challenge my negative thinking based on distorted "core beliefs" and helped me replace them with more realistic and positive ones which are based on real evidence which stand up to close scrutiny.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent, Easy to Follow and Really Helpful, 24 Jul 2002
By A Customer
I would highly recommend this book to anyone suffering from any form of anxiety, panic, phobia or OCD disorders. The information given is clear and precise and thought provoking. A must for anyone who feels they need help but are unable to seek help professionally. The workbook questionnaires if answered truthfully help you to understand that you have an illness and are not losing control or going crazy.

5.0 out of 5 stars buy this book!, 2 Feb 2004
By mr g m hagard (london United Kingdom) - See all my reviews
This may be as good as psychotherapy/self-help books get for the lay reader. It is a comprehensive work covering subjects as diverse as EMDR and nutrition. The author stresses the importance of a holistic approach which just made me want to read the whole book! I bought it to help me with a simple aeroplane phobia but found the book so engrossing that I started to read other sections. All the theory is covered and combined with a very practical set of exercises. Written in simple, plain English. Love it.
