Product Description

Product Description

This tutorial presents the sophisticated new features of the most current ANSI/ISO C++ standard as they apply to object-oriented programming. Learn the concepts of object-oriented programming, why they exist, and how to utilize them to create sophisticated and efficient object-oriented applications. This book expects you to be familiar with basic programming concepts. It is no longer enough to understand the syntax and features of the language. You must also be familiar with how these features are put to use. Get up to speed quick on the new concepts of object-oriented design patterns, CRC modeling, and the new Universal Modeling Language (UML), which provides a systematic way to diagram the relationship between classes. Object-oriented programming is presented through the use of practical task-oriented examples and figures that help conceptualize and illustrate techniques and approaches, and questions and exercises to reinforce learning concepts.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent for beginners!!, 6 Mar 1999
By A Customer
This is an excellent book for beginners. He explains the concepts in a very easy manner. The best part about this book is that he assumes absolutely no prior programming knowledge in any language, including C. I would highly recommend this book to anybody wanting to enter the world of Object oriented programming.

3.0 out of 5 stars Errors Abound, 5 Jul 1999
By A Customer
I definitely like Robert LaFore's approach, and find the book very comprehensive, I feel that the errors kept me from having a good understanding. There is an error on about every other page in the Third Edition, and I could not find an errata sheet anywhere on the internet. After the first ten chapters, I gave up and returned the book for Jesse Liberty's "Sams Teach Yourself C++ in 21 Days". It covers the same material and also has a lot of errors, but he provides an errata sheet on his web site. I so wish Mr. LaFore had done more proof-reading before he sent it to press.

4.0 out of 5 stars THE best C++ book for beginners!, 19 Jun 2000
By A Customer
This is an excellent book for those starting C++. Robert Lafore's approach is methodical, progressive, consistent, unambiguous and considerate of those who need to drum home the topics discussed in the book. Waite Group's website also provides for download, all code for exercises and examples. Only downside are the numerous typo's, but these don't detract from the value of the book.
