1.0 out of 5 stars Why is this book so hard to understand?, 20 Aug 1999
By A Customer
I have bought books on c++ programming, assembler, and advanced physics. None have been so hard to understand as this one. Why is that?

4.0 out of 5 stars Good For Intermediate Programmer, 18 Aug 1999
By A Customer
If you already have some programming knowledge in VB and is thinking of taking it further, this book will help.

The course layout is good. The exercises are interesting enough.

But there are errors in the printed codes. You'll need to verify them with the codes that come with the CD.

You will also need to place a strong cup of black coffee next to your PC, roll-up your sleeves and try out all the exercises.

Make sure you concentrate until your brain throbs. :>)

Then you will find this book comprehensive and rewarding. As I did...

3.0 out of 5 stars Errors teach or frustrate..., 4 Jul 1999
By A Customer
I learned how to use Visual Basic from reading this book. The structure of the book and interactive quizzes provided a way for me to digest the intricacies of the Visual Basic IDE and the syntax of the language.

Even though the book was very useful to me, I give it a marginal score because of the errors in the examples. As an experienced programmer, the errors helped me to learn the syntax (or at least, the consistently missing INDEX syntax) and Visual Basic's DEBUGGING capabilities. However, since this "Find the Error" approach was not a conscious tactic on the part of the editors, I could easily have chosen frustration over learning.
