2.0 out of 5 stars Could have been better, 2 Aug 2005
By A Customer
I was a bit disappointed by this book. For a start, there were no pictures of the dishes - fine, if you're quite familiar with Korean cooking, but I was left feeling quite adrift without any. Some recipes seemed to have been repeated with quite trivial alterations, and sometimes the recipe and the ingredient list didn't match up. There were no metric conversions, and not all ingredients were covered in the glossary (eg is a 'green onion' the same as a British 'spring onion'? Would have been nice to have been given a clue!).

I tried making some of these recipes last night, and although some were very tasty, others were distinctly boring. I'd been hoping for a Korean version of Patricia Richfield's excellent 'Japanese Vegetarian Cooking,' but this book seemed to have none of the authenticity, taste or detail of hers.

I doubt I'll use 'Flavours of Korea' very often.

5.0 out of 5 stars The best Korean Vegetarian book that I have ever seen., 23 Nov 1998
By A Customer
Being someone that loves Korean food. It is refreshing to see that creating a lot of the foods that I enjoy can be created so easily. Even if yours friends are not vegetarians, they will enjoy the recipes that can be either the main course or a side dish. This is by far the best Korean Vegetarian book that I have seen.

5.0 out of 5 stars What a wonderful little cookbook!
Flavors of Korea is a gem of a cookbook! As a vegetarian going through a bit of "menu bordom", I wanted to try Korean food to spice up my palette. Read more
