5.0 out of 5 stars A great and practical "how-to" book on meditation, 1 Dec 2001
By A Customer
I'v two bookshelves full of books on (zen) buddhism and meditation but none of them really describes and explains in-depth the practical aspects of meditation. This book does. As a cognitive psychologist the book appeals to me because it is written by a psychologist who doesn't try to mystify things. As someone who meditates the exercises in the book really helped me deepen my meditation.

5.0 out of 5 stars Absolute gem of a book!, 21 Jun 2004
By S. Lionheart "sarah23000" (Whaley Bridge, High Peak, Uk) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
I am a meditation teacher and retreat leader and I recommend that all my students buy this book. It is a concise and accurate manual for learning meditation. It is written with sparkling clarity. Rob really knows his stuff! If you want a sound book - free of bias and based on sound personal practice reinforced by the expertise of some of the best meditation teachers that are alive to day - then this is the book. I have not yet anyone who is disappointed in it. It is truly a gem and I anticipate it will become a classic.
