Product Description

Amazon.co.uk Review
Be a walking work of art without damaging your delicate skin! Dorine Van Den Beukel's unusual how-to book, Traditional Mehndi Designs, details everything one needs to know to create temporary henna tattoos, focusing on traditional designs from India, Africa and the Middle East. Its three chapters--all light in verbiage and resplendent with full-colour photography--outline the history of Mendhi, offer instructional techniques and graphically document hundreds of designs carefully illustrated in black and white for you to copy onto yourself. One look at this gorgeous art book and you will wonder why Mehndi didn't catch on during the 1960s. Head to toe paisley that washes off in the rain--now there's a concept that should tickle the fancy of the terminally hip. --P. Randall Cohan

4.0 out of 5 stars An excellent reference book of henna patterns, 12 Oct 2000
If you are looking for a comprehensive collection of traditional henna designs then this book has them by the bucketload. The only sad thing is they are all taken from the collection of books by navneet but without any attempt to properly credit the original artists. A selfish act that has left a bad taste in the mouth of many in the Henna community. If you have the navneet books or can obtain them then stay with the original source. If you dont then in terms of the range and sheer number of patterns this book is difficult to fault

5.0 out of 5 stars A beautiful collection of ideas for henna art / tattooing., 13 Jun 2000
Dorine van den Beukels book starts with a description of the history and the traditional use of mehndi(henna) art. She then describes the actual method of applying the henna. These sections are accompanied by beautiful photographs and appropriate pictures and diagrams.

This is followed by 177 pages of mehndi designs! They range from small and simple designs to the most intricate and beautiful traditional designs. It is ideal for amateur and more experienced henna artists alike.

A true treasury....an indispensable source of ideas for a henna enthusiast.

It is exactly what I was looking for.
