As a polymer scientist and surface scientist I am always on the lookout for great books in my field. I have 5 books that I consider to be essential and truly excellent. This is one of them.

The book is written clearly by someone who has an excellent grasp of the modification methods and characterisation tools. The book is packed full of useful information whilst remaining compact and succinct. Unusually, the author has managed to combine a high scientific level with commercial aspects such as cost. For example, he compares the relative merits of corona treatment versus flame treatment and plamsa treatment of polymers. There is also an excellent chapter on surface energy measurement and some warnings about complications when making contact angle measurements.

To summarise, this is an superb book and I couldn't recommend it more highly.
