5.0 out of 5 stars Aliens vs Predator vs Terminator - need I say more?, 11 Jul 2002
By Ian Tapley "thefragrantwookiee" - See all my reviews
(TOP 100 REVIEWER)    (REAL NAME)
The Terminators, defeated centuries before, are attempting to make a comeback by making unstoppable Alien/Terminator hybrids. However, two forces stand in their way: the Human freedom fighters led by the Android Call and the Predators, who sense the dangers in the hybridisation. Thrown into this is Ellen Ripley, an Alien hybrid herself, who is trying to find her place in a strange galaxy.
The art, story and characters in this book are all truly fantastic. Unlike some similar books, this one captures the natures of the main characters exactly; the Aliens are a force of nature, the Predators are a brutal but honorable society, the Terminators are unswerving from their mission.
Bringing back Call and Ripley from 'Alien Resurrection' was another great idea, as their 'non-humans saving the human race' highlights the core of the story.
The battle with the Predators, Ripley and the Aliens versus the hybrid Terminators was one of the best bits in any graphic novel.

Buy this book. Other crossovers pale in comparison to the big Sci-fi/horror three.

2.0 out of 5 stars Too many faults, not enough details., 30 Jul 2002
By Ian Langford (Cwmbran, Gwent, United Kingdom) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
Okay, you've seen the films, played the games, read the other books, so you think 'wow! three in one.' Well, maybe... if you don't dwell on any of it too much.
The general plot is simple, if a tad daft; ie Skynet lost, so it built a few 'special' terminators to hide away for a long time and blend in until 'the time is right'. Still with me? Good, 'cause this is the story-stretching part. jump ahead about a thousand years give or take, and the Ripley-8 clone <Never called this here?> is living it rough when Analee<?> Call pops by for a visit. (you remember her, the Winona-bot, though when was her name Analee?) Anyway it seems there's another Government lab doing the 'alien thing' and Winnie wants Old Ripley to help out. Only it turns out that those 'Special' terminators are behind all this, making terminator/alien hybrids. Cue the third part of the triangle, a 'Predator' who I suppose just happened to be around, takes out the lone Terminator with one shot, but gets seriously smooshed by the new, well whatever they're calling it. (Note to plot guys, Terminators are covered in skin, so that they can blend in a tad better than a chrome robot, hence the term, 'infiltration unit'. If I ever saw some guy, fifteen feet tall and nine feet wide...) And since when were the Predator's green? Okay, they have green blood, but in the movies they were all <yes all, eleven in toto.> grey. Thing go even further down hill from there as a whole buncha preds go up against a buncha those wierd hybrid guys, whilst Ripley unleashes a batch of Aliens, their first actual appearance in the story, just in time for the final battle. It's not all bad though, the artwork's cool, and people's expressions are well drawn, though they do seem to scowl a lot, and there aren't exactly a lot of characters for you to get attached to, including Ripley and Call.
Bottom line, if you're a Terminator fan, the best you'll get is a page or two, with a few more of a recorded message from John Connor. The wierd new terminators are just that, 'wierd'.
Aliens, likewise, they barely pop up except as 'above'.
The Pred's, well they're a wierd colour and they're uglier than usual too...
So unless you really want to find out what happened to Ripley and/or Call, who apparently went their separate ways, which, in itself doesn't seem right... <Watch the end of Resurrection and then ask yourself if that sounds like what would happen?>

2.0 out of 5 stars ok story - flaws - artwork didnt suit, 15 May 2004
By joe woodhouse (scarborough, uk) - See all my reviews
i was really looking forward to reading this - -yes it is all three rolled into one -- however it fails on many levels - -ok maybe the artwork is relative to the individual - however that doesnt excuse it being completely bright and open the whole time - horror is scary because things are hidden etc - there are shadows - there's no shadows in this - -there no mystery or suspense -- the plot and storyline are mediocre - -there is also inconsistencies within the book - - such as how the hybrid terminators can rejuvenate 'skin' - this isnt possible by using the resources they do - the aliens only appear marginally at the end - and its a welcomed break from the stumbling story - i only wished they came and killed everything earlier!! this was an amateur and disappointing attempt......
