Product Description

Reporter Kathy Vaughan unknowingly has 2,000 years of royal vampiric blood in her veins, and neither she nor her cowboy partner Tucker realise how weird their life is about to become.

From the Author

Book jacket cover
Are you thirstin’ for a Boot-scootin’ and Blood-tinglin’ Romance in an Apocalyptic, Comedic, Vampire Thriller?

Reporter Lizzie Vaughn doesn't know it but she has 2000 years of royal vampire blood coursing through her veins. Tucker, her cowboy boyfriend of six months, doesn't realize that his life and hers are about to take as many twists and turns as a bucking bronco ride.

All that megalomaniac Vampire leader Julius wants is for his horde of maniacal followers to vanquish every living being on the planet, so he can reign over Darkness for all eternity-with Lizzie at his side. There are just a few problems he has to iron out first...

Julius' fatally seductive Vampire consort, Elita, is furious. She wants to be the only woman in Julius' undead life. His archenemy Lazarus, once the most powerful Vampire on the planet, is undoubtedly plotting against Julius and his diabolical scheme. But Lazarus has been living a quiet life, eating HoHos and reading tabloids. Has he lost his taste for bloodshed?

Lizzie herself is being difficult-she doesn't want to be Queen of the Vampires, or as she calls them, "blood-sucking, crazy freaks." Finally, there's Tucker, who is coming for his woman with his dog, his gun, and a couple of ragtag cowhands.

Who will be left when the sun rises?

4.0 out of 5 stars Gives a whole new meaning to the term "pale rider.", 19 May 1999
By A Customer
Just when you thought everything had been written and filmed that could be about vampires, The Cowboy and the Vampire comes along and injects new blood (pun intended) into dead matter. This story is a romp, a hoot, a gallop, a joy. Just the munitions science alone for combating vampires is a welcome change from the garlic, the crucifix and the wooden stake. And the romance? Let's just say until you've done it with a vampire, you haven't lived. Or is that died? The story starts out with Lizzie Vaughan, a journalist, doing a story on the last real cowboy, then heading back to New York with more than love in her eye. Unbeknownst to her she has the bloodlines to be the vampire Queen that the undead have been waiting 700 years for. All she needs to be is "turned." Pursued by vampires, she heads back to Wyoming and her cowboy and that's where the story really takes off. There are battles of will, battles of flesh and blood, a war between two different factions of vampires, and a treatise on just what is God's intention for vampire evil among the good and evil of the living. Even Lazarus, the man Jesus rose from the dead, plays a major role. Horror is not my usual genre. Nor are Westerns. But put the two together and you've got something that rises up out of the grave and makes great reading. The plot is so good and original, this book has movie written all over it.

4.0 out of 5 stars 1,000 years is a long time to wait for justice., 17 May 1999

This humorous novel offers an alternative view of good and evil. Those popular cherubic angels can move over because a new gang has rolled into town in shiny new coffins. Your guardian angel may not be what you thought. The possibility of evil consuming itself is compelling especially to those of us raised with a traditional view of Eden. I always believed that snake had a better story. I recommend this book as an entertaining, yet mind opening read. A few gory scenes took me by surprise but I read on for more of that good 'ole boy Tucker. And his horse isn't half bad either.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic vampire fun! Sookie fans will love this!, 19 Aug 2008
By C. Frost "Charlie Frost" (Sheffield, UK) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
I have just finished this book and it was the most fun book I've found in ages!

I think this would be perfect for fans of comedy-horror like Charlaine Harris - its light hearted but actually has a really good plot; it's not too formulaic. In fact, I must say it was much better than quite a few of Sookie Stackhouse's outings as the characters are far better developed, and the writing is just classier in general. Fans of Kelley Armstrong would really like it too; this book was actually much eaisier to get into than many of hers are.

I really liked the fact that this book completely re-writes vampire mythology, it makes it all much more interesting an less predictable. This is a cool novel thats not too heavy for bedtime reading but provides plenty of giggles. Bring on the sequel, please!
