2.0 out of 5 stars All Too American, 11 Oct 2002
By Christian Cormier (London, England) - See all my reviews
Although this guidebook does contain useful information, its tone and focus on American readers quickly become annoying. By insisting too much on safety issues and suggesting too many addresses for Western tourists only, this book does not invite you to go and explore for yourself a different culture. As for the graphics and maps, they are very poor. Finally, the lack of hands-on tips is also very disappointing. Instead, I would definetely recommend the Lonely Planet.

4.0 out of 5 stars Quirky and Informative, 29 Jun 2008
By S. J. Razzetti "pastarasta" (Cumbria, UK) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
The previous reviewer is pretty wide of the mark IMO - Isobel Shaw is British and knows northern Pakistan better than almost anyone. Though over ten years old now, this guide is full of essential information, and her concerns with your safety are more relevant than ever.

This is a fabulous country to visit - do go!!
