Finding Vagrant Story Hard ? This is the book for you...., 15 Oct 2000

So then... Vagrant Story... Not a terrible game then, but it is HARD at the best of times. This is where Dan Birlew's excellent Strategy guide comes in to play. You are greeted on the front cover by the fantastic image that also adorns the cover of the game box. A quick flick through the pages shows a beautifully laid out and presented, in a similar guise as The excellent Final Fantsy VIII Guide, which is not a bad thing at all. As you turn on your PSX (or PSone, of course) with a copy of the game in, that's when it comes in real handy. Scrolling around the vast maps can prove daunting to new RPG'ers, even in the wine cellars, and sometimes you can find yourself lost as a polar bear in the jungle (excuse the joke). Also, combat can be confusing to a novice and expert alike, so this is where the book becomes very useful, as it shows you how to equip your weapons and armour, how the combat system works and how to get the best effects on enemies, such as those pesky Orcs. Overall then, an absolutely enthralling book to accompany an amazing game. Five Stars, indeed, then, a must for any owner of the Squaresoft masterpeice.

I bought the guide within two weeks of having bought the game... first off, Vagrant Story is one of the best games Square ever made; second, this strategy guide has proved its invaluable helpfulness to me time and again, although there are a few bits missing, like a table for the weapons and armor combinations... (however, I think that's available directly from BradyGames' website). Also, the screenshots aren't very clear, but then they're not really needed. All in all, a clear, well-presented, and extremely useful guide: it's got everything you could ever want to help you complete Vagrant Story with the best possible scores...

An excellent game guide, but..., 4 Jul 2002
...there's few bits missing from this great guide. First time thru it helps a whole lot by providin strategies and in depth walkthrus but by your second or third time when u want to get ultimate weapons and secret areas u soon realise the problem. Some sections while informative to some extent, are incomplete. Take for example the combination guide for weapons, it doesn't show the results of mixin some weapons. Most annoyin however is the fact that it doesn't tell u alot about the secret or hard to come by items. Despite this, this is a solid guide and great value for money...buy it!
