5.0 out of 5 stars at last an honest view of the serbian people, 1 Jan 2000
By A Customer
I am a British soldier currently on deployment within the Republika Srpska in BiH. I have spent almost 18 months working solely in the RS in an attempt to bring some much needed aid to the people. It was very refreshing to read a book that actually goes some way to explaining who the Serbs are and what shapes them as people. Too much time has been spent painting these lively, warm and hospitable people as animals. I for one found 'Among The Serbs' an extremely interesting review of a country that is a mystery to most normal people in the 'West'. I would highly recommend this book for anyone who wants an honest view of a nation, someone who wants to form their own views, not have them formed by CNN or Sky News.

5.0 out of 5 stars Serbs as they really are: human beings with feelings, 15 Jan 2000
By A Customer
As a Serb in London, it is hard to live among a society which has their media-based views of the Serbs as agressors & primitive people. For once someone has actually portrayed us the way we are & it is almost a miracle that it is a portrayal by a non-Serb; thus making the account more believeable to others. The title itself brings justice to the Serbian people, because it suggests that you can actually stand "among the Serbs" without the fear, perpetuated by the media, that we named 'agressors' will kill you. Read the book, and you'll read truth: and then you can make up your own mind. 'Among the Serbs' is fact and not fiction.
