Product Description

Product Description
Taking to heart the idea that those who benefit from a crime ought to be investigated, here the eminent theologian David Ray Griffin sifts through the evidence about the attacks of 9/11 - stories from the mainstream press, reports from abroad, the work of other researchers, and the contradictory words of members of the Bush administration themselves - and finds that, taken together, they cast serious doubt on the official story of that tragic day

About the Author
David Ray Griffin has been a professor of philosophy of religion and theology at the Claremont School of Theology in California for over thirty years. He is co-director of the Center for Process Studies there and the author or editor of over twenty books. --This text refers to an out of print or unavailable edition of this title.

5.0 out of 5 stars This book provokes serious thought., 1 Oct 2004
By Ned Middleton (British professional underwater photo-journalist & author) - See all my reviews
(TOP 100 REVIEWER)
Whenever I recognise factual errors in any work of non-fiction (and I frequently do!), those errors are taken into account when it comes to judging - and reviewing, the work. In the case of this book, I have no way of knowing whether the well-argued and well-reasoned facts surrounding the events in the USA on 11 September 2001 (now known by the acronym "Nine-Eleven") as assembled and described in great detail by the author have any basis or not.

Nevertheless, it is because those allegations "are" well-argued and well-reasoned that this book stands out as one that must be read by all those people on both sides of the Atlantic Ocean who care anything at all about this new style of terrorism, the direction in which the threat it poses is taking our respective countries and the consequential actions (or not!) taken by our leaders.

It is easy to say we have a right to ask questions. It is more important to assert we have a right to demand answers. To return to my original point, therefore, whether or not the allegations in this book have any basis in fact or not, they are allegations which must be addressed by those leaders.

It is important to note that this author is not alone in making such accusations, so this is not a maverick publication. Instead it raises the most worrying and disturbing questions about a series of events which shook the world and, in doing so, made a permanent change to that world - forever!

I live in a small English village. No, not New England, USA - the original England that is still part of Great Britain. Eleven people from this region alone died in the twin towers and similar figures are repeated across this country. I do believe, therefore, it is fair to say we all have an interest in what happened on that defining day and what is being done about it.

Whatever your personal views about those events, whatever your personal involvement (or otherwise), I have reached the conclusion this book should be REQUIRED READING for all citizens of the USA and UK. Once read, you will be asking yourself; Well, did they?, or didn't they? And why do those basic questions about the standard procedures relating to US Air Defences remain unanswered by those at the very top? Or is it we simply don't care how the war is won just as long as it is?

5.0 out of 5 stars The shocking truth about 9/11, 20 Mar 2004
By A Customer
Having previously read several books about the 9/11 attacks, I was much looking forward to the release of David Ray Griffin's The New Pearl Harbor. Having now read this book, I consider it the definitive book on the September 11 attacks and the many unanswered questions that surround them.

Griffin manages to cover all of the key concerns that have been raised in other books and Web sites that examine the events of 9/11. For example, why weren't the attacks prevented in spite of repeated warnings that the U.S. received in the months beforehand? Why were FBI agents blocked from investigating the men who later became the hijackers on 9/11? Why did the standard procedure of sending up fighter jets to intercept off-course planes fail to occur successfully four times in a row on 9/11? Why did the president continue with a relatively trivial appointment to listen to some schoolchildren reading, in spite of knowing that the first WTC tower had been hit before he entered the school? The list of questions goes on.

Griffin even examines some of the more controversial claims made by critics of the official 9/11 story. For example, was it really Flight 77 that hit the Pentagon? Photos taken that day appear to show damage far too small to have been made by a Boeing, and the lawn in front of where the plane is meant to have hit appears intact, with no scorch marks or signs of gouging.

Griffin is braver than most in his ability to examine these questions in a balanced and rational way. He presents a strong case for a far more in-depth investigation of the attacks of September 11 than those that have so far been conducted.

Anyone who cares about peace and democracy ought to read this book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Trust No One, 13 Aug 2006
By Kernowdaz (Penzance, Cornwall) - See all my reviews

Quite simply put this book makes for essential reading. Rather than believe what the main stream media has put out there start asking questions and do some independent research.

Something happened on that day in 2001 and I for one don't believe the official account. David Ray Griffin states the facts - it is for you, the reader, to come up with the conclusions.

I would recommend this book to anyone who wants to begin to learn the disturbing but undeniable truths which thus far have been so painstakingly and unjustly covered up.
