I read this book after trying to peice together several tutorials on the internet. Although I had a fair understanding of what was happening in QBASIC, this book helped me to understand much more! I cannnot recomend this book highly enough. The chapters are well organised and have realy good summarys and tasks at the end of them to solidify your learning. I recomend this for anyone looking for a place to start programing in a quick and simple way!

This was the first programming book that I ever read. I read the book back in 1996. I've come a long way since then but looking back, I thoroughly enjoyed reading it. It is an excellent place to start as it is easy to read and understand and gave me a solid grounding for other computer languages.

The increasing obsolescence of the QBasic language does not eliminate the need for fundamental programming knowledge for beginners provided by "QBasic by Example." Coding QBasic is an excellent stepping stone for learning how to program. Several fundamental programming concepts are covered in this book such as general program structure, if-then-else statements, and loops. The book also has important information for beginners on understanding how programs and computers work.

I was a little disappointed that the book does not cover ALL of the QBasic commands. However, the most frequently used commands are explained very clearly with ample use of easy to read program examples and well organized chapters. The author obviously knows how the human mind learns best and this book images his experience.
