This review is from: King Matt the First (Hardcover)
It was the first book I've ever read.
I was 7 - 8 then.
I have read this book 4 or 5 times since. Now at the age of 51 I am reading it again together with 2 kids and 2 adults and we are loving it. Looking forward to next chapter. Excited about the addventures of the little wise king. I know of no other book like that.

5.0 out of 5 stars amazing book, 17 Sep 2005
By Elena (Russia, Moscow) - See all my reviews
I like this book, it's one of the most famous children book in Poland. It's a story about little boy who had to become a king in spite of his early age. He doesn't want to rule the country, he wants just to be a kid. But he did it and did it in his own way never forgetting being a child.
This book opens for everyone the magic world of childhood, like Winnie the Pooh or Alice in Wonderland. All these books have smth in common : the authors didn't forget what means to be a child!
The book contains many adventures , for inst. Matiusch takes part in the war or he is going to Africa to visit cannibals.
There are many other interesting books written in the East Europe. It's L. Kern and his story about dog Ferdinand the Great, or Kiritze who wrote a charming and sensible tale about children from Cherry-tree street who decided to be knights, or J. Bjechva and his kind wizard Mr Spot (pan Kljaksa) and his fairy Academy.
