5.0 out of 5 stars Wicked!, 2 Nov 2003
If you'd like to know the German for 'my darling I fear I will roll over and crush you like a Mosel grape' this is the book for you. Very funny throughout (you might need a 'sensible' phrase book as well).

3.0 out of 5 stars Funny but..., 12 Jan 2007
I read this book and I found it funny. And this is about all that it can be used as: as a funny book. It has no use as a guideline or whatever! Eg The phrases used in it are (if you speak German) funny but nearly none of these phrases in the book would be really used in Germany. And if you use them: Congratulations for sounding like an eejit. Or at least make them smirk (but I am not really sure if that is what you want to..). Or if you are "lucky": making them angry. Plus a lot of the things in it are not true or would be true if today would still be the 40's or 50's.

So if you read that book: DONT TAKE IT SERIOUSLY. DONT TRY USING THE WORDS IN IT IN GERMANY.
And if you are looking for a serious book with German phrases it in: TAKE ANOTHER ONE!!!!!

I was surprised when I got this book as it is a very thin book and only pocket sized! It's ok if you're going to visit Germany as it has useful words and sayings. Inside the book the pages are divided into 3 columns - 1 with the English equivalent, then the German saying and then a column of how the words are pronounced. If it didn't have the help on how to pronounce the words, this book would not be very useful. An ok book for visitors though!
