Kirchoff's tale of Black Dragon Khisanth is quite an entertaining read. The story unfolds firsthand from Khisanth's perspective, from the moment she is awoken by the Nyphid's from her Dragon sleep; to her exile in Xak Tsaroth, concluding with her bursting forth from the well to confront the heroes from the original Dragonlance Trilogy. I like the charcter of Led . The attraction that Khisanth has for him in human form contrasts greatly with her feelings for him in Dragon form, which concludes with her abrupt, merciless dispatch of him, headfirst into her jaws, after taunting him in the most satisfactory manner. We also gain insights into other Black Dragons in Takhisis's army & the hierarchical structure in place. The Solamnic knights also make a welcome appearance in this novel. However, I feel that this book focuses on Dragons too much to the detriment of not developing enough human characters to add further depth to the story. Having said that there is more than enough here to make this novel a worthwhile read.
