1.0 out of 5 stars Very , very disappointing!, 24 Sep 2003
I would not reccomend this book to any body builder who is looking for inspiration or info on this subject. This is rather a book about Zane's spiritual enlightment and reads more like a trip from the mind of somebody who visited Woodstock and didnt make it back to reality again.
I found the book to be very annoying, as all his daily entries are written in rhyming poetry which Im sure wont apeal to many hardcore bodybuilders?
His diary includes his workouts, but its simply a case of what exercise he did and how many reps.
I feel cheated purchasing this book, as the reviews seemed to make this a very good read. I would presume the reviewers were all hardcore fans of Zane's, or Woodstock casualties?!?
NOT FOR ANY BODYBUILDER WHO WANTS TO LEARN MORE ON THE SPORT.

5.0 out of 5 stars A personal look at the man and what drives him., 17 Jun 1999
By A Customer
I really enjoyed this book because it isn't your run-of-the-mill fitness book. I believe that it is just as important, if not more so to see what drives a person to do what they do at such an optimal level in life. I can look anywhere and find exercises to do. This book gave me a glimpse of the person, Frank Zane, that I haven't seen elsewhere. It's nice to know there is some spirituality and intelligence behind the body. I highly recommend this book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Inspiration from a champion bodybuilder, 26 Jul 1999
By A Customer
This is an extraordinary book about an extraordinary man. It is not for a beginning bodybuilder but for those with a basic knowledge of the sport it is extraordinarily helpful on several levels. Zane is a man with both physical and intellectual powers and he brings to his sport and art an insight that is fascinatingly inspirational and practically helpful. It is clear that Zane's bodybuilding is an art and a way of life as well as a sport. The book is full of both beauty and wisdom: it has been compared to "Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance" and with justification: a bodybuilder can learn much about centering his or her life while receiving boundless tips on the science and excitement of bodybuilding.
