Product Description

Synopsis

Describes the physical and psychological consequences of having a miscarriage, suggests ways to overcome the grief of losing a pregnancy, and discusses the biology of pregnancy and ways to understand and prevent miscarriages.

From the Author

Reasons for the book and some readers' comments.
I decided to write this book in the middle of my second successful pregnancy after several miscarriages. I finally knew the meaning of loneliness, and it made me compassionate. I wanted to tell women who have miscarried that there is someone who shares their sorrow. Miscarriage is about motherhood. It happens to women who want to be mothers. It is tragic because they have planned for and dreamed of their child. Their desire for a child will get them through this and give them the will to try again. I wrote this book to let women who miscarry know they are not alone; to offer them sympathy and support; to explain as clearly as possible the causes of miscarriage; and to give women the information they need to have realistic expectations for their next pregnancy. Many readers have written me sad and wonderful letters about their experiences and what they have gotten from this book. From Pennsylvania, M.G. writes, "My eyes caught your book and I never put it down until I got pregnant again. Your book hit on so many things I was feeling and experiencing such as: friends, family and even my doctor never saying the right things. Your book also helped me to move on and focus on trying to get pregnant again." From Ohio, B.W. writes, "Thank you for such a wonderful gift. You have let me know that everything I am feeling and have felt is natural."

5.0 out of 5 stars This is a book of healing!!, 26 May 1999
By A Customer
I purchased Motherhood... 2 weeks after my miscarriage and I wished I had gotten it sooner. I needed every word of the book so badly because I was seeking answers and solutions and no one could really help me. This book has aided me in healing. I had one successful pregnancy and never imagined in a million years that I would have a miscarriage during my 2nd pregnancy. Thanks to Ms. Diamond ( a true diamond indeed) for the gift of knowledge she has given to all women!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Very helpful - highly recommend., 29 Jul 1999

I really got a lot of this book after my missed miscarriage at two months pregnant. It helped me emotionally to hear her story and the stories of other women. It also provided me with all the medical information I needed and helped me to get a list of questions for my doctor. I would highly recommend this book to anyone who has lost a pregnancy.

5.0 out of 5 stars A must for anyone who has had a miscarriage., 13 May 1999
By A Customer
I read this book two weeks after my D & C. I wish I had read it sooner. We had finally become pregnant after 1 1/2 years of trying. It was devastating to miscarry at 9 weeks. This book helped me to understand my grief and also offered a glimmer of hope for the future. It doesn't matter if this was your first pregnancy (like ours), or not. This was the most compassionate, understanding book I read. My husband will be reading it next, because I think it will be as helpful to men as it is for women.
