5.0 out of 5 stars Reads like a novel, 28 Oct 1998
By A Customer
Torpedo Junction is a real page-turner. I was surprised by it! It is researched down to the last detail but the author makes it interesting on every page. It mostly follows a little coast guard cutter fighting a lonely battle off Cape Hatteras. But the book also includes all the major events of this all but forgotten battle along the American coast during World War II.

5.0 out of 5 stars Hickam can write!, 24 Jan 1999
By A Customer
I read Hickam's Rocket Boys (which I loved, by the way) and decided to get this book just to see how it was written. I mean the man is an engineer, right? How can he also be a writer? Well, let me tell you, this man can write! Rocket Boys kept me awake for two days reading it and so did this book. It grabs you from page one and never lets go. I never knew there was this big battle off our coast during World War II. I hope they make a movie out of this book, too. Mr. Hickam - please write some more. I'll be the first at the checkout line.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent, Accurate and Gripping Tales of the Atlantic War, 28 Oct 1998
By A Customer
Hickam's Torpedo Junction is an excellent book. i reccomend it to anyone who is interested in Military History or lived thorugh the WWII period. The War of the Atlantic was critically important to the Allied success but goes fairly unnoticed among most history books. A great read.
