Cricket, anyone?
Like the other "Adventures Down Under," this adventure is inspired by a real event -- the formation of an all-aboriginal cricket team that competed as far away as England. I had a lot of fun researching this book, and discovered that just about anyone who plays cricket loves to talk about the sport! I spent an enjoyable afternoon in Vancouver’s Stanley Park, watching cricket players and listening to patient explanations of how the game is played. (Of course, the game is slightly different now than it was in the 1860s, but we took that into account.) Later, cricket players from all over the world helped me by reviewing the manuscript via e-mail and the internet. They made sure I got it right!
