Product Description

Synopsis

Jeffrey Hopkins presents the 64 arts of gay male love in a sex and spirituality manual. Adapted from a highly explicit Tibetan sex guide based on India's Karma Sutra, this modern gay version presents ways to enhance the intimacy and impact of gay sex. The 64 arts are part of a process of spiritual development towards the ecstatic orgasm - when the true nature of reality is sometimes unleashed.

1.0 out of 5 stars Very little light, very little warmth., 1 Mar 2003
By A Customer
I have previously enjoyed other books that Jeffrey Hopkins has been involved with - ie translating works by the Dalai Lama - but in no way did this book live up to my expectations. I think the basic problem is that it is far too academic and lacks any real warmth. The translation section of Gedun Chopel's Tibetan Arts Of Love is particularly bad. It is full of cringing euphemisms like 'doing the deed'. Instead of a list of positions (which reads like a game of 'Twister') it may have been useful to have a few diagrams - even 'stick men' drawings would have been better... The short chapter on Tantra tells you what it is but gives no practical steps towards practicing it. The book uses alot of Buddhist terms which I think would mean virtually nohting to a beginner, or worse, be easily misundersood. If you are doing an essay on the history of Goden Chopel and other Indian 'pandits', or want to brush up on your sanskrit by all means by this book. The only inspiration I took away was, 'stop reading about it, go off and do it' (how buddhist is that !?) - or at least have a nice cup of tea.
