Product Description

Review

"This is simply the best book I have ever read on any martial art...If you have ever wondered what the martial arts might have to offer spiritually then read this book. Excellent!"
"-Prediction Magazine"
"After studying Ron Sieh's book (and trying a few maneuvers in front of the mirror), I feel I could take on two if not three of New York's top-flight muggers. Surely a classic in its field."
-George Plimpton "Shadow Box"
"I think it is time that T'ai Chi enthusiasts of all school began to take stock of what the art is really about...to move the whole field of study on to something even more real, powerful and honest than what we have been doing up to now. Ron has truly made this his task. Bravo! And like all good teachers he continues to push on. Well done!"
-"Peter Ralston Cheng Hsin: The Principles of Effortless Power"

4.0 out of 5 stars A sensible view of Tai Chi as martial art, 30 April 2003
As a Tai Chi instructor that has read many bad books about tai Chi (usually, but not always written by westerners), I was unsure what to expect from this one. I was worried that the author would be coming across as agressive and paranoid. However, as I read the book I was pleasantly surprised by his honesty and relaxed personal style. His insight into the true nature of Tai Chi's martial application concurred with my own experiences and beliefs. He was human, and willing to show his flaws as well as his strengths. The content comes close to the true traditions of the Eastern martial arts and amply translates them into terms that can be understood by western people. In all, I would recommend this book to any martial artist who wishes to study Tai Chi or make his or her current style come to life. There are not enough books like this in the field. Highly recommended.
