5.0 out of 5 stars Living tai chi!, 5 April 2005
Don't get this book if your looking to learn tai chi.
This book is about Cheng Man-ch'ing, who was a Master of tai chi and his students are well known through out the world.
The book shows us glimpes into his life style. Sometimes there are a few little tips which can help you improve your tai chi.
Get this book if you wish to know more about a man who did more than practise tai chi, but went on to live it!
Hope I helped.
Take care!

5.0 out of 5 stars Adds Depth to One's Practice, 2 April 2005
By Paul Dunkley (United Kingdom) - See all my reviews
This is a personal account of one man's experiences which helps to relate to the practice of the short form Prof Cheng Man-ching is accredited with creating. If you are serious about taking your practice of the short form to a deeper level, then this book and its sequel Gateway to the Miraculous are necessary to enable you to see what it is all about and where it should take you.
It is a heartfelt commentary rather than an instructional book, but if you are already a student of Taichi with a good teacher, then you will find both books a treasure, which you will relate back to
as you progress. Enjoy!

5.0 out of 5 stars A personal account, 28 Sep 2001
By A Customer
This is one of the best books that is available about tai chi chuan. Rather than covering technical details (which are generally useless), this book is a pleasantly written discourse on the relationship between one student (Wolfe Lowenthal) and his teacher (Cheng Man Ching). Although the author has appears to have slightly "new age" leanings, I felt that the flavour of Cheng's teaching came through nicely.

2.0 out of 5 stars there are plenty of secrets
cheng man ching taught westerners differently from chinese students. The personality cults in tai chi are legion.

The book's not about tai chi btw it's about the man.
