This book offers a detailed account of Microsoft DirectX Media programming. Its focus is on creating dynamic multimedia applications and components, providing complete code samples to demonstrate concepts and describing the different applications and devices with which DirectX Media can be used. DirectShow has built-in support for DVD players, analogue and digital TV tuners, and capture devices; by mixing and matching these various modules, one can create numerous diverse and distinct multimedia applications ranging from Internet streaming applications to sophisticated audio/video editors and TV capture applications. The appendixes include the DirectShow COM interfaces, Windows Media attributes, Windows Media Player methods, DirectShow codecs, and DVD event codes and playback methods. The companion files can be downloaded from the Wordware website.

Skim-read this last night - looks quite useful. There's a fair bit of detail, and lots of code (which can also be downloaded). I'm not completely sure about the layout though. Good for people who want to progress beyond using GraphEdit. There's one (short) chapter with some C# examples.
