An ok book, doesn't really deal with Directx7, more the basic functions of directx, and only a small section at that. Having said that, this book gives you a great deal of insight into the structure of basic games programming.

This book is not at all what I expected. For a start everything uses C++ and classes, fine if you like that sort of thing, but not for me. The author also has an annoying way of using methods and libraries before he has explained how they work, or even shown you the source code!!

One last point - if I see another book that uses MS Comic fonts for headings, I'll scream!!!
