Product Description
This is a comprehensive reference to Delphi design-time errors, compile-time errors and run-time errors. It offers quick solutions to more than 600 error messages you may receive while developing in Delphi. Error messages are listed in alphabetical order, and include an explanation of what actions and omissions may have caused the error message, how to quickly resolve the problem, and how to avoid receiving the error message. Code samples are provided, showing clear examples of how to eliminate the errors. The book is appropriate for all levels of Delphi programmers, especially experienced developers, and is applicable to all versions of Delphi, including version 4.0. The CD contains the text of the book in Microsoft Word and .TXT formats, along with freeware programs written in Delphi, Windows help files, and a Delphi database FAQ file.
From the Author
Handy reference - don't go to work without itI am the author of this book (Developer's Guide to Delphi Troubleshooting). That having been said, I refer to it myself quite often. Being neither a genius nor a possessor of a photographic memory, there's no way that I can remember all the specific and sometimes esoteric information that the book contains.
Once the book has quickly solved one or two problems for you that might otherwise have taken hours, it will have paid for itself, and anything you get from it after that is "gravy".
The answers are applicable to Delphi developers of all skill levels, also to various types of projects (local databases, Client/Server, multitier, Internet/Intranet, utilities, games, etc.).
This is not my favorite Delphi book (those are "Developing Custom Delphi 3 Components" by Ray Konopka and "Delphi Component Design" by Danny Thorpe), but it is one of the most useful reference-type books. Keep it within arms reach of your compiler!
I give it 4 stars.
