2.0 out of 5 stars Using NLP for health - easy to read but lacking in substance, 3 Aug 1999
By A Customer
The book is based on a "Beliefs and Health" workshop run by the authors. It uses standard NLP techniques and applies them to health. There are many examples of actual therapeutic sessions carried out in the workshops. Topics covered are beliefs, strategies, re-imprinting and criteria. Some chapters end with a useful summary (but not all). I believe the workshop was aimed at already qualified NLP practitioners, and this is reflected in the language used and the references to NLP techniques not explained in the book.

I was rather disappointed overall. None of the topics is covered in much depth and there were only one or two things presented that were new to me (I am an NLP practitioner). However, I believe the jargon used is too technical for the NLP novice, and some of the techniques referred to are not explained at all. I would recommend "NLP and Health" by O'Connor and Seymour instead.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent book for therapists, 1 Nov 2006

I didn't find the above review helpful and it nearly put me off buying it, but I was advised that Dilts has written some excellent stuff. As a Hypnotherapist I found this incredibly useful from a work and a personal perspective, it is easy to read and a lot of the learning is done subconsciously due to the writing style, much like Bandler & Grinders "Trance Formations". If you liked Trance-Formations this is a must for your book collection, some very powerful methods of change.

1.0 out of 5 stars gobble, gobble..., 18 Jun 2009

If you believe that cancer can be cured by thinking it away this is the book for you. This is pseudo medicine pseudo religion pseudo cult stuff. On the other side if you NEED something to lean on... a stack of these could go a long way.
