Anyone who has read Linda Howards wonderful "Mr Perfect" or the more than pleasing "All the queens men" can understand why I would be willing to try some of her earlier work. Unfortunately for me, I settled on the slim 250 page Mira romance "Come lie with me", the story of a physio theropist who falls in love with her patient. I discovered that no matter how talented the writer, when they apparently have to stick unerringly close formula and bring it all in 250 or less the result is inevitably disappointing.

That being said, if you can are not irritated by the fact that this so-called relationship is totally unethical, that it's rooted in an imbalace of power that quickly and unrealistically has to be overturned to be even remotely sexy. If you can ignore the silly little subplot that is not given enough space to be anything but a distraction and of course the basic premise that after 2 years of depression and physical deterioration that leaves someone on the brink of suicide, a couple of balanced meals and a massage can make it all better. Then I guess you could enjoy this book.

In its favor, Linda sure can write a hot sex scene, and although there isn't too much humor in it, the book does have a couple of moments, a nice scene when the main characters arm wrestle and a sweet ending. One the whole though this book, with it's paper thin plot, no-character characters and unrealitically tidy ending was a waste of good reading time.

know what your getting - this is not an indepth thriller
this is a read in a day feel good romance
Linda Howard does great thrillers
and she also does great romances and i love them all including this one
if you are a
linda fan do not miss this one

A romantic read following the rehabilitation of a man who had lost the use of his legs. A predicable outcome that leaves you with a 'feel good factor'. So far, I have enjoyed all the Linda Howard books I have read! A must read for any Linda Howard fans.
