Excellent romantic intrigue sea cruise, 24 April 1999
By A Customer
When her spouse dies, Adriana Falcone takes over running the family's cruise ship business. However, the "Queen of the Seas" quickly learns that the waters are filled with pirates, cutthroats, and piranhas, who turn out to be the friendlier folks. She also shockingly realizes that her company is in deep financial trouble. Desperate to keep the firm afloat, Adriana turns to rival Thorne Weston, CEO of Blue Ribbon Cruises, for help. Thorne agrees to assist his competitor though Adriana cannot fathom why. As they work together, they begin to fall in love with one another. However, someone is trying to eliminate Adriana even if it means killing her. Not sure who is friend and who is foe, Adriana even doubts the intentions of the man she now loves. PORTS OF CALL is a well-written romantic intrigue that takes readers on an intriguing sea cruise. The story line is exciting, but the lead protagonists make this novel hum. Adriana is a warm and witty person while her beloved is a constant thorn in her side. After this tale, readers will visit their bookstores in search of other works by Sally Fairchild.
