5.0 out of 5 stars Thrilling, 6 April 2001
By A Customer
Someone is stealing Sharon McCone's identity... Why are they doing it? Can they be stopped? The thrilling narrative makes this book a great read, but it's more than that - it's also a puzzling story about suffering, courage (and the lack of it), desire for friendship and acknowledgement and hopelessness.

4.0 out of 5 stars Another McCone mystery hits on target, 1 Jan 1999
By A Customer
While Other People Sleep, like the last half dozen Sharon McCone mysteries show a writer at her economic best. No lengthy descriptions or unnecessary verbiage clutter the California landscape that Sharon traverses in her search for an imitator, and terrorizer, of her life. The story moves swiftly and smoothly, with the all too familiar creepy horror of the current scourge of society - the stalker - hanging over every move our protagonist makes. Marcia Muller always keeps McCone fresh and alive for her readers, and we'll hopefully enjoy her investigations for another twenty years.

5.0 out of 5 stars Taut, Compelling Tale That Keeps You Riveted, 2 Jun 1999
By A Customer
I thought that the build-up of the suspense in this book was the best in the series. If you go with the story (and not worry about how accurate all the details are), you'll have a gripping experience that will stay with you with you in the wee hours of the night. The inner journey from disbelief, to fear, to anger was especially rewarding as McCone gets down to finding out what is happening as someone impersonates her. McCone is usually a little too self-contained for my taste, and this book makes her more appealing. I hope you will enjoy it as much as I did.
